The Preservation Society of Chapel Hill is very proud of its accomplishments thus far. We endeavor to preserve the unique identity of Chapel Hill. Thank you for visiting us on-line and we hope that you will visit us at the Horace Williams House the next time you visit Chapel Hill.


Some Accomplishments To Date

Maintains the historic Horace Williams House as a cultural center.

Operates a revolving fund for buying endangered properties and reselling them.

Works with the Town of Chapel Hill to establish historic districts and document historic buildings, sites and structures.

Produces public education audio-visual programs and materials.

Publishes a quarterly newsletter.

Presents tours of historic homes.

Provides skilled advice and assistance for restoring historic properties.

Holds easements on endangered properties:

The Samuel Phillips Law Office
The Alpha Tau Omega House
The William C. Coker Property
The "Baby Hollow" House
The Kennette House
The Lawson House
The Huskey House



As a non-profit organization, the Chapel Hill Preservation Society gladly welcomes the donation of any preservation easement to protect historic buildings. According to standing U.S. Department of Treasury and Federal Internal Revenue Service policy, all donations of such easements for the purpose of historical preservation shall be 100% tax deductible to the person, persons, company, or organization that offers the donation.
